Organising a Race
Bantry Athletic Club actively promotes and encourages the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, particularly through walking, jogging and running in Beautiful West Cork. In line with this aim the Club endeavours to support other local voluntary groups in providing safe, well-run events that are fun and accessible to all.
REQUIREMENTS FOR BANTRY AC TO SUPPORT AN APPLICATION FOR AN AAI LICENCE FOR AN EVENT WITH 200 OR MORE PARTICIPANTS
1) Bantry AC will support race license applications where the Club is satisfied that the event is being run on a voluntary basis. This forbids the payment of any fees, wages or consultancy from income generated by the race. (Other than for essential services which have been agreed in advance at the Pre-application meeting of the organising committee and Bantry AC)
2) The event must be organised and conducted in accordance with the Rules of the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) and the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) as detailed in the Road Racing Handbook, available from the AAI website http://www.athleticsireland.ie/runzone/organising-a-road-race/
